Arctisen project team members are finalising an online course which offers start-ups, SME’s, tourism guides and students opportunities to learn on cultural sensitivity in tourism. The main aim of the online course is that the participant will be able to identify the meanings of cultural sensitivity in tourism and develop one’s skills related to them; recognise, describe and reflect upon challenges related to cultural sensitivity in tourism and particularly in one’s own work. And to create and apply culturally sensitive approaches in one’s work by using practical tools given during the course.
The course consists of five chapters, such as Introduction to cultural sensitivity, Cultural sensitivity in the Arctic, Business innovations and cultural sensitivity in tourism companies and Digitalisation, responsible marketing and cultural sensitivity in tourism companies. Each chapter also include videos, presentations and inspiring self-reflective exercises.
The online course will be launched in early 2021. Currently, the course is in its pilot phase so if you find the topic interesting and would like to give valuable comments to us about the content, please contact us via email: arctisen@ulapland.fi
